Tucked away in the outskirts of Marrakech just 30 mintutes from the Airport is Le Palais Paysan, a boutique hotel that shows you the joy in peace and tranquility. With stunning architecture and beautiful views of the Atlas mountains this is a hotel that I think is definitely worth visit. As I was kindly invited to review the hotel early this month I thought I would share with you a few of the things that I enjoyed about my stay.
The beautiful grounds
One of the first things I noticed about this hotel is the size of the grounds, whilst the hotel itself only has 16 rooms the hotel surroundings creates an element of grandness for this boutique treasure. Upon arrival we were greeted and taken to enjoy a traditional Moroccan tea ritual before enjoying a guided tour around the grounds by the staff. The views surrounding the hotel are incredible and the scenery is truly special the flowers and greenery everywhere was my favorite part.
We enjoyed a plethora of good food on our visit but by far my favourite was the traditional Breakfast. A feast of fresh fruit, eggs, Moroccan pancakes, yogurt and bread all sourced from the farm on the hotel making everything we ate fresh and organic. Lunch was to be enjoyed with the most incredible views across the atlas mountains, which was truly special. To be honest I found the lunch menu around the pool area to be enjoyable but underwhelming but perhaps that was because I ordered a club sandwich rather than something more traditional. When we ate at the restaurant for lunch it was delicious and plentiful.
We were ever so kindly treated to a 60 minute massage on our stay and it was everything the treatment rooms within the hotel are perfectly sized and designed to be heavenly and relaxing. Using Moroccan oils to massage I entered a zone of pure bliss and honestly never wanted it to end. The prices are also incredibly reasonable considering how much it would cost back in the UK.
Whilst we didn’t get to experience any of this with such a short stay I was really impressed reading the menu of activities available to guests in the hotel:
- Ride quad bikes
- Visit Marrakech and Medina
- Visit Berber markets in the Ourika Valley
- Saddle up and go horse riding
- Take a camel ride
- Learn Moroccan cooking, falconry or Arabic calligraphy
- Discover Lalla Takerkoust Lake
- Spend a night in our riad in Medina
When we were escorted to our rooms I was given a room on the 1st floor which was more than fine for me given that I had the most beautiful views of the Atlas Mountains right from my balcony. For me it was the little touches that I think made my room special, the hand crafted baskets with flip flops for my use, the ice cold water for me to enjoy, it was just the perfect welcome. The beds were also simply divine! Handcrafted wood beds with a comfortable medium to firm mattress, just what I like. The decor was inviting and warm much like the hospitality of the hotel.
Would I go back?
Absolutely, without a doubt, this hotel was the most peaceful and relaxing place and just two days there have me feeling fresh and rejuvenated. The thing that really stuck out to me most in this hotel above all was the customer service. I was so pleased to be told that the staff of the hotel have been with the owner Mustapha Amalik since the beginning. There is a true family feel to the hotel, everyone who works there takes pride in their position and role which is reflected by how they treat hotel visitors. I even had help one morning taking some of my blog photos which was just the sweetest thing! If you are looking for a place to relax and rewind with beautiful views and great customer service this place is for you.
