Home is where the heart is.

Since Dan and I met seven years ago we have traveled all over the world together visiting new places, trying new food and meeting new people. One Christmas we spent 4 days in Paris wandering the streets of La Marais on Christmas Eve, eating oysters in the street and overlooking Paris at the top of the Eiffel tower. Last Christmas we woke up in a beach hut in Thailand and spent the morning sunbathing and driving around the island on a scooter. This year we finally decided to spend our day at home, just us (and our new very cute kittens Luna and Clipsy) because as much as I love traveling, nothing beats being at home in your own house at Christmas. We love waking up on Christmas morning and opening our pressies with a snowball cocktail in hand, then spending the day cuddled up watching Christmas films and consuming inappropriate amounts of quality street and baileys. This year, as it was our first real Christmas home in a long time I decided I wanted to re-do our living room and give it a revamp. I had this idea of wanting to start the New Year afresh with a new look and thanks to the wonderful guys at DFS we got the worlds most perfect unbelievably, comfortable sofa to make the room look extra special.

 
When choosing our sofa we decided to go for a corner again because not only do they fit perfectly with the shape of our room but they are also hella' comfy. After weeks of visiting the showroom and sitting on far too many sofas on our lunch break we finally settled on the Voyage Corner . OH MY GOD GUYS it is so comfy. Our last sofa (also from DFS) was a deep chocolate brown fiber filled sofa and boy did we really love it, however it had seen better days, surviving a student house and 3 house moves it really was time for a change. This time we wanted something a little more modern and opted for the fabric in graphite grey. We also decided to go for foam filled seating after reading about the further longevity of that style of filling, trust me there is nothing worse than a sofa seat that loses its comfort. For me a sofa is one of the most important pieces of a home, it's certainly where Dan and I spend the majority of our time. A sofa is an investment and some would say a pricy one at that but the great thing about places like DFS is that you have the option to pay off monthly payments to get a sofa that you actually want and lets be real here, most of us including myself couldn't afford to outright buy a sofa so having that option is a real bonus.

My home is a place that I am happy to invest money into, because when you think of it, its the place that you can always relying on being your sanctuary, a place to relax after work and hide away from the world. So when choosing a style I wanted to go for something that was uber comfortable but also contemporary so that I could put my own stamp on it. My first choice was to add printed cushions and introduce pops of yellow to help brighten the space. I picked up my cushions from Ikea and H&M home and the blanket from Asda. 

To get the look I wanted for the room I spent hours on Pinterest gathering inspiration and one thing that really helped me was getting an idea of how the room would be layed out. Dfs have things cool thing where you can plan using a 3D imaging app which helped with my vision. I wanted the sofa to be the center focal point but as I have a lot of wall space with my high Victorian ceilings we redesigned our picture wall to really make the area pop! 

This Christmas after spending the morning volunteering at our local rotary club, Dan and I plan on planting our bums on the  new sofa, drink in hand, heating on, tucked up under our blanket with our little babies and enjoying our new living room. We will be passing on the boxing day sales as we are on serious saving for our wedding but for any of you bargain hunters DFS will be having a huge one with discounts up to 50%. If you plan on giving your home a revamp I absolutely 100% recommend using these guys, and I am not just saying this because of this collaboration, I can honestly say from experience of having two sets of sofas with DFS that they are worth every penny. Oh and if you do decide to ever choose DFS as your sofa place make sure you ask for Linda in the Tottenham court road branch - hands down the nicest retail manager I have ever come across.
