Hands up if you love brunch... I mean who doesn't? Breakfast and lunch smooshed together for one perfect meal, YES PLEASE. And I'll be honest if there ever is a place to indulge on brunching then New York is the place. During my last stay in September for NYFW I ate at many deliciously delightful places and what kind of internet pal would I be if I didn't share these with you.

1. Egg Shop

If you love eggs in all kinds of ways then this place is for you. Found on the lower east side of New York in a cute and bright cafe this place is the perfect spot to get a dreamy dish of your favorite eggs. What I enjoy most about this place is that whilst the menu isn't huge you can kind of build your own breakfast if you don't like any of the set menu options. Everything is delicious, but my personal favorite is the sunnyside eggs, homemade biscuit and caramilised onion aoili, so SO good.

2.  The Smith

Midtown is most certainly not one of my favorite areas of New York, it's crowded, busy and full of tourist trap chain restaurants that you definitely want to pass on. The Smith however is a perfect place to get brunch in this area. It's large, bright and sells the most delicious french toast (with caramalised bananas) I think I have ever eaten, beware though it is actually the size of a doorstop so if you want to save yourself for other treats around New York maybe get this one to share.

3.  Five Leaves

Manhattan isn't the only place to eat well when in NYC, so if you hadn't planned a trip to Brooklyn I highly recommend you do. Found on the border of Williamsburg in Greenpoint Five Leaves is a great place to get a delicious breakfast and to people watch on the busy, cool spot of Bedford Avenue. The dishes vary from simple Granola, and Avo on toast right through to spicy, aromatic Morrocan scrammble.  I opted for something on the simpler side with  the sage egg sandwich with aged cheddar and tomato jam, but honestly I had major FOMO with the couple next to me who ordered the huge stack of fluffy ricotta pancakes.  Just one final note it gets super busy on the weekend so if you can, try and go midweek when things are a little quieter

4. Cookshop (Chelsea)

Okay, confession time, I didn't actually eat from the brunch menu here, but if lunch is anything to go on then this place is a must try. Located in the Chelsea area this restaurant is the perfect place to visit before walking the famous High Line. Everything me and my girls ate was so delicious and fresh, plus the menu is varied meaning there is a little something for all kinds of tastes. The thing that I  think sets this place apart from other places in NYC is that all produce is locally sourced and organic and that really comes through in the quality of the food. If you can't make it for brunch then definitely head down for one of their delicious salads.

I only had a short time in New York meaning I only managed  four places for brunch, which I think is pretty darn good considering I also squeezed in a bunch of dinners too. But my hunt for the perfect brunch doesn't end here, I am always on the look out for more places to add to my 'Must eat in NYC'  list . Which brings me to you guys do you have any great breakfast or brunch spots to recommend? If so leave them below in the comments section I would love to hear the places you think are worthy a visit.
